This project began in 2021 with deep-dive research into local newspaper archives and the development of an original screenplay called “Maybrook Yards” on the same subject.
I picked up the research again on my Substack with this post.
The conception of this work—including fictionalized portrayals of all characters, plot points, the narrative architecture, and moral questions—is entirely my own.
An AI-assisted research and linguistic tool was used in the final stage under my strict direction. As the author, I curated and refined all iterative material, making the final authorial call on every expressive choice to ensure the novel reflects my own stylistic judgment and historical intent.
Historical Note: I view this modern workflow as a digital evolution of the “Architect” model used by novelists like James Michener—where the author provides the vision, the exhaustive research, and the moral framework, while specialized tools (human or digital) assist in the linguistic refinement
